Suspicious (2005.03.25 Update)

My computor is unstable. I could see no problem on task manager process, and there are enough memory. I checked firewall incoming traffic and outgoing traffic, but I cannot see any suspect point.

It is too pain for reinstall all software, but it bettet to reinstall operation system while coming holidays. Reinstall operation system is much easier than fix the problem.

Anyway, I install Firefox and Thunderbird. I use Sleipnir as browser, and Becky as mailer, but I need to try Firefox and Thunerbird befor I configure the Linux.

Imported Slepnir bookmark to Firefox favorite. Since Sleipnir is very useful software, I thought Firefox is not enough. Maybe I need to install plug-in.

Synchronize (2005.03.25 Update)

Recently I haven't playing computor game, I configure some setting for my computor, but I'm having hard time.

Linux packeage update was failed. I couldn't understand the type of error. Person who cannot understand the error should not use Linux?

Microsoft office was unstable. Reinstall work was completed without any trouble.

Import program for PIM had ome trouble. I had to install the program.

I did windows update, updated pattern file for Virus protect, backup all date to backup server.

Since my work is very busy these days, studing for CCNA is not well. But I'm working hard for trouble shooting as my job, I may get high score for Trouble Shooting portion of CCNA.

Calling card (2005.02.02 Update)

I made some kinds of calling card for such as Mitsubishi Pajero owners club, Kawasaki ZZ-R owners club, and private by freeware.

I put my car and motorcycle picture and logo in each card. I was trying to arrange the sticker for Mitsubishi Pajero owners club, but I couldn't success. May I'd better request to send original date from the leader.

Since I have scanner, I could scan many date or pictures, then I am tring to make my original stickers.

Throw out magazines (2005.01.18 Update)

Since there was only small space in closet, I jacked up my stuffs. My weekly magazines for computor took many space, so I needed to jack up those too.

Basically, I need those computor magazines for new news, but I sometimes need old news, so I turned over magazines and I cut off which I need. It tooks many time, and my wife was fed up.

I could put Informations such as website in web browser favorite bookmark, but I need to scan the other papers which I cut off.

Apprication installation (2005.01.07 Update)

I used to install only freeware which do not use many computor resource, but this year I need to install heavy resource use applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Macromedia Flash for my study and hobby.

I bought Scanner (2004.11.07 Update)

I bought Scanner, Epson GT-F550.

I chose this scanner, because it can scan not only magazines or paper, but films. I scanned a photo as a test, and it was fine.

I bought some other sheets for sticker and name card also, so I could scan the pictures and make original stickers.

It will take so much time to scan whole my photos, so I will take time. The photo of the scanner is at bottom line of our treasures.

Linux installed!! (2004.11.01 Update)

Finally, I could install Linux. I was torn between Red Hut Linux(Fedora), Knoppix, and Vine Linux, but I chose Vine, because I used to use that.

Installation was easy, much easier than Microsoft Windows. I didn't have to configure network issue (maybe because I built up LAN).

I have 3 hand-made desktop computor and one Sony notebook. I use one desktop as backup server, one for my main machine, and the other one for my wife machine. Sony notebook is browsing-only machine. Operation system for all four computor is Microsoft Windows2000 professional.

I got in removal HDD kit to backup server, and I installed operation system to discrete HDD. I could install both Window and Linux to one HDD, or use application for multi-boot system, but I chose to disrete the HDD.

If I mix two operation system to one HDD and some outage occure, it is difficult to provide problem, so I chose not to mix. I also tried to find switch to switch over HDD, but I couldn't find it.

Must-have item (2004.11.01 Update)

Portable MP3 audio player Rio SU30. I spent a lot of time wondering to buy, but my choice was right. Rio SU39 has 4 capability as audio player, voice recorder, FM radio, and USB data storage. Its weight is only 37 grams, and its size is aboute 2 lighters. Rio SU30 can play not only MP3, but WMA. Its incorporated USB connector, so it is very useful.

Bought 19 inches CRT monitor (2004.09.16 Update)

My monitor was broken at Aug 16th, so I used only Sony notebook. Finally, I bought used monitor and I could use my desktops.

It was about $70 with 3 months guarantee. Cheap 17 inches CRT is about $60, so it was nice to buy.

I bought it yesterday, and I used this opportunity to clean the inside of all desktop computors. As expected, parts as CPU fan was dirty, but I cleaned up. To tell the impression of the monitor, it is big and it is easier to see. It is too early, my eye is getting old sight, so it is very comfortable to see the screen.

But of course, aspect of the monitor is big, and the fever heat is very high.

Wireless LAN success2 (2004.08.27 Update)

I cannot access to internet by my desktop connect to the wired router, when I connect wireless AP, "access point". Plus, my notebook cannot get IP address. I wanted give preference to wired LAN over wireless LAN in for the meanwhile, I disconnected the AP. I tried again to get IP Address for my notebook, but I couldn't even I put command "ipconfig /renew".

Then, I tried to change the channel of AP, and it was successful. Both wired access and wireless access are success. Maybe, AP channel was influenced to the wired router.

Anyway, I browsed all day today and there was no trouble. I wish all trouble for network will end. I am troubleshooting for network at my office, and also at my home... I'd better make the report for these troubles for network for joke.

Network down again... (2004.08.25 Update)

NTT technician came to my site in early morning. I didn't expected that he comes my site such earlier, I haven't check in-house wire and modem.

ADSL link lamp is lightning even link is down. Firstable, technicial connect his notebook to modem directly, and tried to check the link through to the internet, but he couldn't.

Since the result of circuit testing was good, he suspected that the trouble is in exchange node, he went to their to change the port for ADSL and telephone line at exchange node.

I confirmed that the link is up then, so he suggested to keep monitoring for a while. But, again, the link was down. I called NTT again to dispatch the technician to my site.

Forth time dispatch to my site. The Technician connected his notebook to modem directly and confirmed that link is up! Disconnect the notebook and connect the cable to router again to confirm that link is up, but cannot. This time, reason for outage is in my house.

To provide which part is in trouble, the technician connect the notebook to modem again, and we confirmed link is ok. Then the technician connect the notebook to the router, link is down. The technician connected the notebook to in-house cable, link is up. As a result of providing, the router is suspect point and I need to replace it. Anyway, if I connect my notebook to the modem directly, link is ok, so the technician left my site. The reason for outage today is the port at the exchange node and the router in my site.

Next of the day, I bought new router and I connected to the cable and did installation. Desktop computors were okay to browse. Then I tried to install wireless AP, but I couldn't to do it. And the desktop computors were also cannot connect to internet again. I suspected the AP and disconnect it, then desktop computors could access to internet...

Problem is not the router, but the AP? If so, I didn't buy new router?? I could buy wireless router if I didn't buy new router and AP....

To confirm the problem, I'd better to change the channel of AP to use it.

To provide this outage, I installed wired LAN installation, wireless LAN installation, PHS installation, and tool for connection to modem directly. I could provide outage easily next time.

It happened again!? (2004.08.21 Update)

I cannot browse most of time from yesterday. I thought some installation of wireless LAN, but I could not browse by my desktop computor. Reason for outage might be local line again.... and finally my wife went berserk...

Since it is difficult to hook up with ADSL number and failure help desk for telephone has a ticket of two time dispatch before, I called them again. I requested help desk to do remote testing and check for any major outage occured.

Received call from NTT help desk staff, he said circuit is clean and no major outage happened now. One thing which I suspect is link lamp is green(means ok) while link is down, this must be not helpful to check that local line is good or not

RFO must be in-house problem? RFO at first time is circuit rerouting, and rfo at second time was port change of exchange at nearest station from my site, so local line sode is most suspect point. In-house fabric is 1F/Modular--LAN cable--Modem--LAN cable--2F/Router--LAN cable--Desktops or --Access point--(wirelessLAN)--Note.

Ping ok from both Note and desktop to the router, so computor <=> router is okay. Then I have to check cable between modem to router, and cable between modem to modular. To confirm that cables are okay, I have to install link assistance to modem in notebook, and note connect to modem directly. If note directly connected to modem is also link down between desktops also link down, it might help to suspect local line side or might be doubleness problem. If note directly connected to the modem is fine between desktops are down, I must change in-house cables. I'm a little bit worry for the cables, because I have a cat.

Anyway, NTT only can send their technician while business hours, and staff said he will dispatch tech on Monday, I need to confirm that the in-house is okay.

Wireless LAN success! (2004.08.18 Update)

After overnight shift and came back to house, I connected wireless access point to router, and installed driver to notebook. Installation was success and it was so easy. It is very confortable to using computor with watching TV. Browse between CM, chat and watching TV same time, etc.

Data transition (2004.08.17 Update)

I thought I'd better do data transition and install the access authority from Vaio note, I connected monitor switch to the display of my wife. For the meantime, my main computor was connected to display. Immediately, I transited the data and install the access authority.

I checked the price of used CRT displays and new TFT displays in Shinjuku, but it is little bit expensive. Maybe, I will buy used 17 inches CRT display at Akihabara.

Finally, I bought radio transmission access point for my note computor. It is Buffalo WLA-G54C/P(11g/b). I will do installation tomorrow after I went back to home from night shift job. I set my note computor for radio transmission, I could browse while watching TV, or I could browse at any place in my home such as kitchen by note.

Finally the display was broken. (2004.08.16 Update)

My wife complained that her display of computor is out of order. For the meantime, I switched my display and her display, and monitored for a while. Finally, the display was broken. I even could not turn on it. I was given it from my wife's brother, and he used it long time, so it must be display life. We have two CRT displays, and the other display is also given from my wife's brother, but it is a brand new one. I have many computors and using display switch, but I haven't bought display not at all.

I am connecting two destops to one display by using the display switch, so I cannot use two computor at once. Well, I could use my note computor and my wife's desktop, but my data in my desktops... And, I didn't transite my data to noetbook, and forgot to install the access authority from the notebook since I re-installed operation system of the notebook. I had to install access authrity and did data transition, and unwire my notebook.

I was thinking TFT display for my new display, and I wish I could have 17 inches TFT. But 17 inched TFT display is still expensive, and I do not want to buy used TFT (used CRT is acceptable). Maybe I'd better find cheap used 17 inches CRT display.

I could check e-mail and browse internet by the notebook, but it is troublesome for data transition with my Zaurus (kind of palm) and my mobile phone, because I had to install some applications and re-connect the cables. If I unwired the notebook, I will often use it than I used to.

Complaint to NTT ヽ(`Д´)ノ part2 (2004.07.20 Update)

Circuit was stable after NTT technician changed protective device and rerouted the circuit for a while. But same circuit trouble occured again. I called 113 for complaint again. But lady who picked that call won't listen to me and continue to saying that I need to call another number for ADSL outage....

Finally, I went berserk, and said, "Hey, just transfer to Mr. H right now! Daxx it!" "I'm sorry, I cannot transfer this call to Mr. H", sounds like sulky. "Can you understand Japanese? I said just do it right now!" At end, she applogize and said that she cannot transfer this phone, because Mr. H is in another area so that he will call me back. I replied, "Why don't you say at first, ha? I need call back now, and if I cannot get call back I'll go to your office to find you, I promise." I wait for 30minutes, I received call from Mr. H.

I told Mr.H I was trying to explain to the lady that it is better way to talk with Mr.H because he arranged his technicial dispatch once before and know the how he provided before, but she wasn't to listen to me, so then I berserked. He understood very well. Maybe the daxx lady told him something like Yakuza called to you to call back.

I reported him the outage. Noises and ADSL circuit down between telephone ring were fixed by changing protective device, but circuit still down often. He said he will arrange the technician to dispatch again.

The technician confirmed that no optic cable leg is in the pathway (xDSL is using metal cable), so that he changed modem and changed the port of exchange at nearest exchange station. I wish this circuit outage will ends.

Complaint to NTT ヽ(`Д´)ノ (2004.07.09 Update)

I cannot browse and check e-mail these days. The circuit is down most of time. I couldn't download updates of Virus Protect Soft, Windows update, and even cannot receive my e-mail! I was planning to check e-mail, reply those e-mai, download new freesofts, and so on. But all my plan was canceled.

I am also supporting International circuits as my job, I checked my computor, router, modem, in-house cable, but I cannot find any problem at my site, and looks like circuit problem.

ADSL service is basically best effort type service, so carriers won't guarantee for its speed, but circuit down is not same. (Rarely, link don't up from installation, but customer will cancel if link won't up.)

In addition, noise is on the phone, and ADSL link down for everytime the phone rings, I called 113, telephone outage section not ADSL section.

I spoke with NTT/Mr.H and explained of this outage. He said he will arrange to dispatch his technician to my site, but effects from thunder last night it is difficult to dispatch technician soon. I order him to check outside of building if I am not in my site (I had overnight sift on that day), if I was in my site I'd like to technician to check in-site. The technicial came to my site in 30 minutes. I told that I also work for circuits at another carrier while I explain the situation of this outage, and maybe it was effected.

When the technicial arrived, I explained the situation and told him that I am also work for another carrier, we could do techinician conversation and he changed protective device and rerouted the circuit. He told me to monitor for a while.

The outage was fixed and I could use internet. I checked throughput, mux speed was 630KB, but now mux speed is 950KB!

Since I told NTT that I am also work for circuit carrier may effect, but response of NTT was very good, so I changed my opinion of NTT.

Vaio Note Power Up!! (2004.06.03 Update)

The spec of our Vaio Notebook is OS:Win98/CPU:Pen233MHz/Memory:64MB/HDD:4GB, so its ability is not good enough in these days. But this notebook is not broken, my wife spent lots of money to buy this before marrige, only one notebook (only one maker computor), so I decided to buy memory, version up operation system, and install radio transmission.

Planned work are memory expand, change HDD, version up operation system, radio transmission(install access point).

At first, I bought memory (BUFFALO VS8-S PC66 SO-DIMM 128MB) and install it. It was very expensive, but I won't able to find cheap bulk memory because it is old, so it was fine. It takes about only one minute to install.

I thought it is difficult to install Windows 2000 profecional to 4G HDD, but I will use the notebook only for browsing and e-mail, so I tried to install W2K. The installation was success, and I could have 1GB free space on the HDD. I do not need to buy new HDD for this notebook.

Finished Windows Update, Virus Protect Soft update, and application update, I rebooted the computor. Its boot fast! I thought it will take much longer time to boot, but boot time was much shorter than I expected.

If I buy access point for radio transmission, I may huddle in toilet if I fight with my wife I could use this notebook at kitchen, so that my repertory of cooking will become widerspread.

Changed graphic card of Nanakichi (2004.01.10 Update)

My wife's computor, Nanakichi cannot boot with beep. Regarding the beep, I thought the reason for outage is graphic card. I disconnect it and connect again some times, but still cannot boot with beep. As I didn't have spare card, I disconnect the graphic card of Armageddon3, then connect it to Nanakichi. Finally, Nanakichi boot without any beep. I was sure that the reason for outage is graphic card, so I and my wife went computor parts shop. She wants to try 3D computor game, but she said its cost must be under \5,000(about $47/2004.01.20). It is not difficult to find at Akihabara(very famouse computor and electric appliance town in Japan), but it is difficult to find good and cheap card, so I recommended to raise price limit. Finally, we bought RADEON9200SE VRAM128MB.

Before I try to connect the new card to Nanakichi, my wife asked me that which card is better, new card or card connected to Armageddon3. I replied that the new card is better, off course. Then, she said that is okay to replace the new card to the card connected to Armageddon3. Because 1. she coundn't find the game which attract her, 2. if she will play game, she rather want to play by higher clock of CPU with large space HDD machine, Armageddon3.

I connect the new card to Armageddon3, and connected the replaced card to Nanakichi. This new card may be the most expensive computor parts.

Am I really... (2003.12.22 Update)

I could browse by all my computors, but I couldn't access other computors. It must be a LAN problem. I re-installed TCP/IP, router reset, and finally OS re-install, but no. Finally, I could access other computors.

The reason why I could not access other computors is Firewall. When I updated firewall, access configuration was also rewrote. Why I couln't notice like this basic matter? Am I really work for Network?

New toys! (2003.11.27 Update)

Actually not toys, but I got three digital goods. First, I've got "Handy MP3 Player DNA PDA-01". My wife got this by Net auction. No built-in memory, but 2 MMC slots. I bought two 64MB(128MB) MMC. It can contain about 25 MP3 musics. I usually listen to radio while I commute to work by train, but recently I listen to music by the MP3 player. Foreign musics such as Steppenwolf, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple in one MMC, Japanese musics in the other MMC.

As you can see, size of the player is very small, much smaller than tabacco. Since it is made from plastic, and simple design, sounds is not bad.

Second, 64MB handy USB storage. I put data such as Excel and text on it. After W2K(W2K/WinMe/WinXP), I don't need driver for use this. I don't have my own computor at my office, so this goods is very convenient for me. I can put share files on the shared server, but I don't want use the server for my private data.

Third, New Sony mobile phone "SO505i". It is mobile-phone with a built-in 1.3Mpx camera. This is digital camera with a built-in mobile phone, rather than mobile-phone with a built-in camera. This mobile phone is big and heavy, but I like it and conveniet to use.

I want IC Recorder, Zaurus SLC-860, UPS, Notebook, Zero Halliburton Attache Case and so on. Try to get one by one.

Status of my computors (2003.11.27 Update)

While I and my wife are stayed in my wife's mothers' house for a while, Armageddon1 has network outage, and Armageddon3 HDD was crashed. I gave Armageddon2 to my friend, so only my wife's computor and notebook are okay. I exchange HDD of Armageddon3 and installed operation system, and it's recovered. I had thrice backup, so it was no problem. I re-installed applications.

I couldn't recovered Armageddon1 network outage. As a test, I exchanged LAN board and cable, but no. Finally, I re-installed operation system, browsing is recovered, but LAN is not okay. To be exclusive use for backup serever and printer server, cancel multi-boot system, re-install OS, install some applications, then install printer driver. Next step, I should check router.

I use Aramageddon 1 both as client machine and File&Printer Server!! (2003.06.10 Update)

I wanted make File&Printer Server, but I couldn't because lack of money. I put one more Hard disks to Armageddon 1, and I use Aramageddon 1 both as client machine and File&Printer Server. But, to tell the truth, it's not really Printer server. I just connect printer on it and shared in LAN. And File server is not really so. Backup Server is right, and I also put shared files on it. I use free backup application. As I called serever, but I shutdown it when I'm not using any client machine.

Composition of Armageddon 1 and Armageddon 3 (2003.06.10 Update)

There are 3 hard disks in Armageddon 1. W2K in MasterHDD(30GB), and I use it for experiment applications, programing, and Windows Update. I'll use SlaveHDD 1 (13GB) for WindowsXP. I use SlaveHDD 2 (20GB) for backup. I spent hard time to install WindowsXP in SlaveHDD 1, so I'd better install W2K first, then install WinXP on it. I was trying to install Red Hut Linux 8.0 in SlaveHDD 1, too. But I'll install Red Hut Linux 7.3 in anothere machine.

	Left computor on computor desk is Armageddon 1 and right one is Armageddon 3. Left corner PC is Armageddon 2. I bought the case of Armageddon 1 by about $25. I was given the case of Armageddon 2, and this January my brother in raw gave me the case of Armageddon 3. I use monitor hub switch, so I use one monitor for 3 computors. Armageddon 1 is for programing, Armageddon 2 is for Linux, Armageddon 3 is for main use computor. I was given many computor parts from brother, he is computor programer and he likes computor very much.
	This computor is for my wife, Nana. This cat case was very expensive. It's almost $110 (The case of Armageddon1 was about $20). It wasn't working well, so I changed hard disk and install Windows2000 again. The problem was MBR(Master Boot Record) of hard disk, but it should be ok now. I use good backup soft, so I can restore the system soon next time.
	This is Sony Vaio Note PCG-737. My wife bought this before we married. She rarely use this in these days, so I mainly use this. This is not categolized mobile notebook, so I rarely carry this, but I will carry this to study programing when I have overnight work.

	This is Sharp Zaurus MI-E21 and mobile phone. Zaurus is like a Palm. It's used to selling only in Japan, but new zaurus is built by linux, so you can see Linux Zaurus in US or other county. I can listen MP3, read novels, e-mail, internet, plan list, has data of mine. When I go out, I bring wallet, keys, mobile phone, and Zaurus. There are some more PDA, such as NEC exire and Fujitsu INTERTop. My mobile phone are Docomo NEC N503i and Docomo Sony SO505i, my wife has Docomo Sony SO505i and au Hitachi W11H

My history of computor started from Sord M5. It's about 22 years ago. I'm sure I didn't know MicroSoft or OS(OperationSystem). I used it by Basic. C was not major, at that time. Then I used NEC PC8801, NEC PC9801, Mac, and NEC PC9821. After I graduated college, I first used Windows 3.1.

I really surprised when I first used Windows. In these days, Multi-tasks is not special, but I just experienced only Single-task computor. I haven't used mouse, too. Recent days, I was often asked about computors by my surroundings, but, in fact, I used mouse opposite way, when I first used it. Imagine mouse, mouse has tail, and I thought tail must be my side. Off-course, I noticed soon that I was wrong.

I was gived NEC PC9821 by brother-in-row(my wife's brother), but spec was not good enough, because he already used some years. So I was trying to repair some parts, but because of NEC at that days, I hardly get cheap parts. NEC computor at that time was not DOS/V machine like as IBM or Fujitsu. They had original system. After many complications, I decided to make new computor. My senior of company advised me to make self-made computor. The company I was belonging was developer. 95% of computors ware self-made. I like to fix mechanical stuff, I started to make Armageddon 1. The company was in Akihabara (famouse town for computor in Japan), I could go many shops to find cheap parts.

As my teacher of making computor was proffecional, I used Junk parts(not in box, without driver) too. I bought the case of computor around $25, M/B(Mother Board)is around $58. Graphic card was gift, Soundcard was junk(about $8). Monitor was gift, HDD was around $65. I could make computor less than $300.

Then I made computor for my wife. I was given old computor and repair some parts, and install Linux. I offered to make friends computors. I go shopping with my friend or my brother, and teach them how to make computors. I want to have some more computors, I prefer making computors to using them.

If I have enough money to use, I'll buy Sony desktop computor and give it to my wife, and the computor which my wife using will be File and Printer Serever. I'll buy MacG4 and Dell notebook, and make one for Windows, one for Linux, and Serever for Web and Mail. I want to surround by 10computors. Now I'm supporting International FR/CR(FreamRelay/CellRelay), I continue the job and have qualification of System administrator, MOUS, and master VC++ and VBA. I want to Programing as a second job. So I want to install WinXP, WinMe, W2K to Armageddon 1 for development. For a while, I use Windows for main, and Linux for sub, but someday, I want to use Linux for main.
