Travel  to Hong Kong

Before reversion, I went to Hong Kong with my friend. But this is 10more years before.

I practiced Kendo, Judo, Karate, Tae kwon do, and more. I also learned the first step of Chinese martial arts. I aspire Bruce Lee and Jacky Chen and I wanted to be a stunt man. So I went to Hong Kong as memorial trip of graduate high school. I have three purposes and I heard 95% of people in Hong Kong can speak English, I went there by free course tour by travel agency. A friend who went there with me is sub-leader of Judo club and he also practiced Tae kwon do with me.

I thought everyone in Hong Kong doing Kang fu (Chinese martial arts).....no, I didn't. But I thought I could see some people practing at park in the mornig or at gym. I could just see old people were doing exercise. Gym for matial arts were for Karate and Tae kwon do. I asked some people about gym, they said that martial artist went to China, Taiwan, and US. One purpose was lost.

Purpose 2, I wanated to see Jacky Chen, or Jet Lee, but they already moved to US.

I believed that most people in Hong Kong can speak English, so I went there without Chinese-Japanese dictionary, but most people couldn't speak English. At first, I thought my English is good enough, but I could communicate old couple from Colorado at subway station. They also looked for people who can speak English. The place like big hotel and souvenir shop, you can communicate in English, but the other place, you will hard to communicate. Or people in Hong Kong has a huge pride as French people, they understand but they weren't speak.

Purpose 3, I wanted to buy varioty of Chinese imitation weapon. I walk around and around, then finally I could get many imitation sword and the other imitation weapon. But when I arrived at Narita airport, I couldn't bring them to home. Staff of immigration said that they know they are immitation but they cannot allow me to bring them to Japan, because of the rule....

Should I be satisfied with visiting before Hong Kong's reversion?

I had to find a place to eat, but on first day, we ware tired so we went McDonald. It was almost half cheapper than Japan. I ate Big Mac set and Chicken burger, fish burger, apple pie and so on. On second night, we went to big Chinese restaurant, but waiters couldn't understand English...we only ate noodle and coke. Off course, we went seven-eleven to buy some foods. On third night, my frieds felt sick, so I looked for restaurant alone, then I found Korean restaurant. The menu was in both in Chinese and in English!! And waiter could speak English. I had nice meal and beer at the restaurant. Last day, I ate nice Chinese meal at Hotel with the other people who join this tour.
